WidePIX 10×10

Widepix

Advacam’s WidePIX 10X10 is world largest photon counting imaging camera with 6.5 Megapixels. It consists of 10×10 Timepix devices. Each Timepix tile consists of an edge-less silicon sensor. The edge-less sensor technology allows placing all tiles together from all sides, leaving no rifts. Thus the whole imaging area of the camera is fully sensitive to the radiation and does not have any gaps between the tiles in the image.

Description

The minimum detectable energy is typically 5 keV in case of X-ray photons. The intrinsic spatial resolution of the camera is defined by pixel size which is 55 µm for Advacam’s WidePIX 10X10. The pixels situated on the border of tiles are 2.5 times bigger in one direction, while the corner pixels of tiles are 2.5 times larger in both directions.

The camera is connected to the computer via USB 2.0 interface with readout time of 0.65 seconds/ frame. The thermal stabilization of the camera is taken care by an active water cooling system with chiller. The power consumption is 100 W.
